lyrics

I was on a wooden bench in Barcelona, collecting my thoughts. When a man asked me for a Euro:
"Got any money, kid?"
"Me puedes dar un poco dinero"
I panicked, and told him I didn't have anything (which was half true).
I only had dollars, but I had plenty of money on me.
Before this man approached me, I was sitting there thinking about money, and how I didn't ever want to be a dapper schmuck--there seemed to be a lot of those walking out of the building that I was sitting in front of.
"Margaret, you look very executive today"
I still worry though...that, eventually, I'll have to become something I detest (I am who I never wanted to be).
But, I suppose no one's forcing me to do anything I don't want to, but it still irks me. There are no rules, just suggestions.
So there I was--new country, with a new tongue.
"Me dice tus sentimientos"
But more of the same: Carbon copy human beings--at least on the surface. Mass produced flesh and blood. Interchangeable personality.
Maybe it's up to me to look beyond the eye-liner and the five-hundred dollar frames and find the individual.
How many hundred dollars are my frames?
On a small scale, I feel much less judgmental (hey, that was judgmental).
But when there are so many, everyone seems to blend into one, homogenous human that's really good at taking order.
"Right away, Sir!"
But I want to live free (so millenial) doing as I please.
No cubicle.
No dress code.
I just want to be surrounded by those who relentlessly pursue the expression of the emotion within them.
"Welcome to the echo chamber"
I feel I am constantly knowing exactly what I want to do, but not being entirely sure about how to go about it.
Just gotta take today today, and tomorrow tomorrow
And, as always, roll with the punches.
